What is PVDF? PVDF is polyvinylidene fluoride. PVDF is mainly used for cathode binder and diaphragm coating in lithium grade. When PVDF is used as binder, it plays the role of connecting cathode active material, conductive agent, and collector. When PVDF is used for diaphragm coating, it would be used for improving high temperature resistance, increasing the amount of electrolyte retention, and increasing the safety of the battery under high voltage condition, and so on.
However, like many chemicals, PVDF can be harmful to the human body. First, PVDF releases harmful gases, such as hydrogen fluoride, at high temperatures, which can cause irritation to the human respiratory tract. Secondly, it is difficult to degrade in the environment, causing environmental pollution to soil and water resources, which is not conducive to green development in the future.
Therefore, Thunder Sky Winston Battery have independently developed a water-based binder that can replace PVDF as the binder of positive active substance. Compared with PVDF, it is safer and more environmentally friendly, because the water-soluble electrode does not contain nickel, cobalt and PVDF, then the manufacturing, use and recycling process are all green and environmentally friendly.
And the negative active material adopts nano carbon fiber and artificial graphite, so that the battery always keeps the inherent molecular structure unchanged when receiving high current charging. It is characterized by impact resistance, high safety, wide temperature resistance and long life.
