I currently have a Fogstar Drift 280ah battery, one of the originals with the 200a BMS, and I’m looking to expand my battery bank but cash is tight so wondering if anyone can tell me, can I hook my 280ah Fogstar Drift battery to an eco worthy 280ah 200a BMS battery? Will that still work, will the batteries be able to balance etc?

Fogstar also do a cheaper 314ah eco battery, could I connect that to my 280ah Fogstar Drift battery or does the capacity need to be exactly the same?

Usage is in a campervan with a Victron multiplus 3000va.

Thanks

Batteries with different voltages cannot be connected in parallel or series.

Even if the voltage is the same, different capacities are also bad for the batteries. Because when you have two batteries with different capacities, which one’s capacity will be used first? Therefore, a complex BMS is needed to judge and control, and maintain capacity balance.

Suggestion: Choose batteries with the same age, voltage, and capacity to connect; thereby increasing capacity.

olelon david thanks for your reply but my post was about connecting 2 batteries of the same voltage and capacity just different brands? Thanks
